The Edo castle (the Imperial palace) w/apricot 江戸城と梅 2012 Feb

How to be there:Get out at JR Tokyo station. Walk out from Center exsit of Marunouchi-guchi. Walk two o'clock direction to Ohte-mon gate for about 10 min. 

坂下門前の記帳所。
People are signing here for praying Emperor's condition.

 

江戸城跡に梅を見に行く。今年は寒波の影響で例年より梅の開花が遅い。この日、天皇陛下が心臓のバイパス手術を受けておられる日であったため、坂下門の記帳所で初めて記帳をし、手術の成功を願う。50歳を過ぎると色々と心境の変化があるようだ。

I went to see Japanese apricot at Edo castle (east garden). It has been a little bit delayed to bloom this year. Edo means former city name of Tokyo.

It was a day that the Emperor of Japan was having his heart bypass surgery. So I went to Sakashita-mon gate to sign my name on a note to pray for his condition.
I do not usually do it but I did it this time. I may get older. There were more that 15,000 people done it on that day.

大手門に移動する時、綺麗な鳥を見つけた。
名前は分からないが・・。
I found a tiny little bird on the way to Ohte-mon gate.
Could not find its name though.

城内に入る。石垣の重厚さを見る度に、徳川時代の威光を感じる。
平川門近くの梅林坂には既に幾つかの梅の花が咲いていた。全体的には20％程度だろうか。まだ満開には時間がかかりそうだ。しかし桃色の花を咲かせていた早咲きの木が1本だけ満開だった。全体的な見頃の時期になるまでは、あと1週間から10日待ちという感じだろうか。（2012年2月25日～3月頭）。

I move to Ohte-mo gate and enter the Edo castle site. I always admire this view. Edo castle had been owned by Tokugawa family for 260 years. I could feel how powerful they are.There are apricots near Hirakawa-mon Gate. Almost 20% of apricot trees have opened its flowers.　I believe they might be able to fully open in 7-10 days.  

 

平川門。第二門となる渡櫓門だ。
この門は罪人、死人などの出口としても利用され

御不浄門と呼ばれた。

とっても江戸な感じで好きだ。

高層ビルが見えないのが江戸っぽいね。

I love this view.
I can feel Edo era from here.
No tall building been seen from this point.

 

 

天守閣のあった天守台に移動。1657年の明暦の大火の大火災の痕跡が黒く石垣に残っている。相当な猛火だったのだろう。これ以後幕府は天守閣の建築を止めてしまう。
天守台からは眼下に広々とした芝生が広がっている。（下の写真）かつてこの場所に将軍が住み、大奥があり、将軍の家来たちが生きていた。しかし今は芝生以外には何も目にすることが出来ない。


I move to Tenshukaku Donjon base, which was main castle tower had been on it. The main castle tower has no longer existed since 1657 due to large fire had been occured.
Now I can see a lawn widely open in front of the Donjon base. I know Shogun (King) and his vassals were living there a former time. But now all I can see is nothing but a empty lawn. 




右の写真はシナマンサクという。初めて知った。中国原産の花らしくとてもユニークな花だ。可憐で日本の線香花火を思い出す。

Hamamelis Mollis come from Chine and very unique flower. It reminds me a Japanese sparkler. 







富士見櫓だ。江戸城跡に現存している櫓はこれを入れて3棟だけのようだ。1657年の明暦の大火の後、天守閣を失った将軍は、一時的にここで生活した事があったようだ。ここから富士山や花火を見たという記録があるらしい。 

Fujimi Yagura is a building for both storage and defense. Only three are still remain in Edo castle site. It was name for Mt. Fuji which could be seen from there in former time.　It served as substitute for the Donjon destroyed by fire in 1657. It was also used as a palace.  


松の廊下の右手先付近で福寿草を見つけた。春の息吹が聞こえるようだ。福寿草は、江戸城跡でここ辺りにしかないようだ。今年はとても寒い年だがちゃんと春の到来を教えてくれている。本当に可愛らしい。

I found Amur Adonis near the Matsu-no roka corridor.　
I can hear sound of spring is coming slowly.It has been very cold this year but they would tell us spring is not far. 



江戸城の正門だった大手門から，本丸に入るときの最大の検問所がこの百人番所。甲賀組，根来（ねごろ）組，伊賀組，二十五騎組の４組が護りを固めていました。各組には，同心百人ずつが配属されていたところから百人番所の名が生まれました。

This is the largest security guard house in Edo castle. There were 4 groups of samurai keeping their eyes open for 24 hours a day. Each group has 24 horses riding security guards and 100 policemen.
